(Six women meet on a park bench/village green for lunch, two are smart dressed office workers (*) and the rest are in farm/manual overalls)

BETTY      Hello girls, this is my friend Doris. Doris this is Mary, Gladys, Enid and               Mabel. So, how have you all been?

MARY       Miserable (wriggles and adjusts her bra)

*GLADYS    Fed up

ENID        Worn out

MABEL      Don’t ask!!

BETTY      Oh dear

*MARY      I’m sure we’d all get a lot more done without men getting in the way

MABEL      (solemn) Yes we would

ENID        Yeah, all these chaps too old for the army get to boss us around and pick all the               best jobs for themselves!

All nod and mutter agreement

DORIS      Well, I joined the Land Army because I wanted to drive the big trucks!

MARY       Oh, is that what you do? (wriggling)

DORIS      Nah, I clean the toilets!

GLADYS     I’m a secretary and my boss don’t like me. I walked in on him the other day               and he was talking into this great big contraption. He was furious I’d interrupted               him and shouted at me! Gladys!" he roared "Can’t you see I’m using my               Dictaphone?!"

BETTY       Oh my gawd! What did you say?

GLADYS      I said, why don’t you use your finger like everybody else!!

All giggle
