The Capel Players

Jan

One of the Webmistresses of this website.

I've been with the group for about 6 years now, having never acted or sung publicly before that (unless you want to count school productions where I was a Polar Bear and a carol singing drunkard!)

It all started when a friends daughter wanted to join the group who's panto's we went to see each year. I took her and her friend along and would happily sit and watch rehearsals . You can never just sit and watch and at panto time (Puss in Boots) I was FOH selling raffle tickets and refreshments and at the end of the show, I was on stage in a mop hat chucking flower petals in front of the King! I was hooked.

In Dick Whittington I was 'Singing Jellyfish #1' and the next year a rather dopey Wicked Stepmother in Cinderella.

During one of our cabarets, I remember a short version of Starlight Express we performed where I played a Freight Truck (there's glam for you!). The group have a lack of men and I had short hair so I was one of the blokes with bumps! I now have nice long hair but the bumps stayed!!

I'm also the Group's Vice Chair and on the Production Team, which I enjoy very much. Its great choosing songs and I love writing the sketches and see the group bring them to life. I 'attempt' to direct but their own brand of humour takes over!
